Our 3rd and 4th graders learners at both schools practiced their book location skills this week with a call number scavenger hunt!
At GEJ, we also had our first Mystery Skype of the school year! One of our Wednesday 5th grade classes met a class from Massachusetts. They did a fantastic job determining the location of our buddy class. Several other 5th grades are preparing for upcoming Mystery Skypes and, over the next couple weeks, will be meeting many classes from around the United States via Skype!
Our kindergarten and 1st graders have been busy with author studies, where they have compared different stories by the same author. Authors that some of our classes have been learning about this year include Ryan T. Higgins, Ame Dyckman, and Oliver Jeffers. Over this school year we will learn about the works of many other excellent authors!
2nd graders have been working on comparing and contrasting different Goldilocks retellings! Over the last few weeks we have learned about several different versions of the popular tale. Next, we will move on to various retellings of Stone Soup!
Another piece of exciting news is the arrival of four new bookcases at GEJ! These new units will replace one of the existing large units in the library. I'm so excited to get our new bookcases set up!
